ABOUT

Philosophy

Our community and relational circle can have significant influence on our choices, for better or worse.  We get mixed up when we lose touch with our values or do not act with them in mind.  We may form relationships that do not serve us, or may need help to strengthen these connections.  I help clients with these issues by utilizing the therapeutic relationship to assist them in defining their values and preferences.  In therapy, clients learn to find confidence in their decisions as they learn to trust in themselves and thrive in their emerging authenticity.

Experience

I was trained by the Southern California Counseling Center, where I counseled individuals, couples, and families, as well as co-led the Teen Violence Prevention group, The Children Affected by Domestic Violence group, and was the director of the Parenting Education program.  I am also fully trained to provide EMDR therapy.

I work with adult survivors of childhood abuse (including incest/sexual abuse, physical, and emotional abuse) as well as young adults, especially those struggling with inter-generational cultural conflicts. I also counsel and educate first-time parents and parents of young children, offering parenting ideas to support healthy emotional development.

Prior to working as a psychotherapist, I held a variety of positions in the creative industries of Los Angeles, and have a firsthand knowledge of the stressful nature of this kind of work.
